Have you ever used a typewriter?
Sure have in the 80s. We had one but were one of the first on our street to get a new computer (286) with WordPerfect so I never used it.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
#dogecointothemoon was funny as I actually had some purely as a joke to the concept of crypto. I actually managed to sell when it got to 60c.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
For writing, I use clearscope while I used SEMrush for keyword research. aHrefs is also useful for analysing other sites.
What's your favorite social network?
I like facebook as it doubles as my newsfeed. Over time though Linkedin has become just as useful for news and events.
Who do you wish followed you?
I wish Warren Buffett followed me as I share many of his long term views around a lot of topics and beliefs in what makes a good company.
Why did you become a journalist?
I like to solve problems and then share my learnings with others without them having to go through the same learning process.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Comparing spreads of brokers was my favourite achievement as I really wanted to collect all the data on brokerage and simplify the answers.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Do the research, be confident in your findings and then give the answer straight away. Don't try to hide your findings at the bottom.
When's the best time to pitch you?
In the afternoons as often it's when I get home that I look at the pitches completed.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
I'm most likely to be watching sport from Footy, soccer to Tennis. I love my sport!
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I'm a bit of an SEO nerd and Search Engine Roundtable is a publication that doesn't mess around. It gives a full picture of what works.
