When Maria first reported the mould spreading across her children’s bedroom walls, she believed help would come quickly. She had done everything tenants are told to do. She filled in the forms. She called repeatedly. She sent photographs. Weeks turned into months. The smell worsened. Her youngest son’s asthma became harder to manage. Eventually, she stopped believing anyone was really listening.

Black educators, activists, and policy makers gathered in Baltimore for a 5-day conference back in April. Later in June, the group released the "Baltimore Declaration," an “action agenda” for the future that came out of the conference. Their goal was to find solutions to problems facing Black communities in America and across the globe. Issues like deadly violence, lack of education and high unemployment. FOX45 News Kai Jackson spoke with a few of the speakers on the State of the Black World.

As Ivan Bates continues to build on his lead in the Baltimore City State's Attorney's race while mail-in ballots are counted, FOX45 News anchors Mary Bubla and Kai Jackson spoke to him about his campaign and what's next. This interview has been edited for clarity MARY BUBLA: We're looking at the numbers right now. How are you feeling as city election leaders start counting those mail-in ballots? Are you confident that your lead is going to hold? IVAN BATES: We're cautiously optimistic.
