Agricultural Data Privacy Bills Spreading Across the Farm Belt

Until recently, no state or federal law specifically governed ownership or rights in agricultural and livestock data. If ownership allocations were addressed at all, it was by contract. The first successful legislative effort to change this began in November 2014, when a coalition of farm groups and agriculture technology providers convened to develop the Privacy and Security Principles for Farm Data.
