Chiral alcohol compounds are a class of optically active modular compounds containing hydroxyl groups attached to chiral carbons. Based on the structural characteristics of modular compounds, chiral alcohol compounds with various substituents and functional groups attached are critical chiral intermediates. Chiral alcohols constitute over 20 % of pharmaceutical intermediates.

Abstract Every year, a huge amount of lethal compounds, such as synthetic dyes, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, hydrocarbons, etc. are mass produced worldwide, which negatively affect soil, air, and water quality. At present, pesticides are used very frequently to meet the requirements of modernized agriculture.
