Valuable insights The stress of working in a high pressure environment during the pandemic, combined with the uncertainty and unpredictability of long covid, is taking a toll on the mental health and wellbeing of healthcare workers.5 These factors have created a perfect storm that’s driving many to leave their jobs, exacerbating the already severe staffing shortages in the NHS. Healthcare workers provide care to patients with long covid, but they’re also often patients themselves.
