Introduction For the last three decades, the development of humanized mice aiming at modeling faithfully the human immune system has been an important quest. Indeed, several human diseases cannot be modeled in rodents, thus hindering research in immune pathophysiology and drug development. To obtain a humanized immune system, the most commonly used model is achieved by injecting human hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) into sublethally irradiated NOD/SCID/IL2rγ null (NSG) mice (humNSG).
