Happy Thanksgiving Folks! I recently read an inspirational post that said we should remember to appreciate the little things in life… like finding a jar of fudge that we had forgotten about… or finding a rock that looks like a heart …or getting a surprise post card from an old friend. They may not be big, like getting approved for a car loan, or being promoted. But a bunch of those little things can offset some big thing that knocks you off your feet, and gets you through that bad day.

Ever wonder about the white, wood signs along Highway 7, that don’t seem to make sense as to number of miles? Here is your answer: Drew Leino says: They are the “original” mile marker posts. They will not match the “new” signs which were placed when the road was realigned. Some of the pull offs along the river (that remain after the flood) were the original road, as is the old Hwy. 7 that goes off to the left as you just leave Lyons, and the road along Riverside and Raymond.

The Carnegie Library, 1125 Pine St., Boulder, contains thousands of Boulder County’s historic documents, including maps, photos, newspaper clippings, yearbooks and property records. This includes many items that are connected to the town of Lyons, such as oral histories and photographs. The Carnegie Library went through hard times a few years ago, when the city of Boulder wanted to drastically cut financing to its public library system.
