Dale Schlieve has been coordinating Rhinelander 4th of July Parade for more than 40 years. Out of all that time, picking a theme for this year’s parade was pretty easy. “The theme is America: 250 Years of Independence,” said Schlieve. “So, yeah, it was pretty much a slam dunk.” Schlieve, his wife, son, and some old Jaycees work together to organize the parade. The Rhinelander Jaycees ran the parade until 1984.

Boulder Junction continues investing in outdoor recreation with latest disc golf course

Boulder Junction has seen success with its recent outdoor recreation projects like The Glide, expanded basketball court, and new playground. Now, it’s adding to that with the Tall Pines Disc Golf Course. “It just shows that if you have a nice facility and you target it to your clientele, they're going to come out and use it. There's always people on the playground, there's always people on the basketball court,” said Boulder Junction Parks and Recreation Board member Dennis Duke.

Elcho Historical Society is turning museum grand opening into community celebration

First built in 1913 by the Modern Woodmen of America, the Elcho Grange Hall has had a couple uses over its life. First used as an insurance office for the Modern Woodmen fraternal society, then it was sold to the Grange movement in 1932. The Grange movement was founded in the 1800s as an agricultural organization. “They were concerned about the rural life of the farmer, and so what they did is they put this together across the United States,” said Elcho Historical Society Secretary Debi Mejak.
