A Utah company has staked a claim for rare-earth ores 4,500 acre open pit mine at Sheep Creek, not far from Darby. Forty-five hundred acres of toxic mining, affecting the headwaters of the Bitterroot River and groundwater. Contaminants, including radioactive materials, mercury, cyanide, among others, causing neurotoxicity to plants, animals and humans. The Utah company will sell it to countries like Australia and Canada, who care not the damage they will do.
