Ambispective study using data from the International Glaucoma Surgery Registry (IGSR) to evaluate mild-to-moderate POAG patients who underwent iTrack ab-interno canaloplasty (Nova Eye Medical, USA) (prospective cohort) or iStent trabecular micro-bypass implantation (Glaukos, USA) (retrospective cohort), with or without concomitant phacoemulsification, and ≥12 months of follow-up.
Tissue resident memory T cells populate the human uveal tract
|
Abstract The current concept is that the eye is an immune privileged site endowed with innate immune regulatory networks to maintain organ function. We now have evidence that resident T cells occupy intraocular tissues. In immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, such as psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis, tissue resident T cells trigger disease flares in the skin and joints.

The Past and Future of Trabeculectomy
Trabeculectomy has been used for 55 years to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with progressive glaucoma or those with serious vision loss to prevent progression. It reduces IOP by draining aqueous humor from the eye via the creation of a small fistula, or channel, through the sclera via a scleral flap under the conjunctiva.

Surgery in the Advanced Uveitic Glaucoma Patient
Uveitic glaucoma is a diverse disease. Patients with advanced disease may present with open or closed angles—the latter sometimes acute, sometimes chronic. Acute angle closure obviously requires an urgent response, but for me, chronic angle closure is more a predictor of the chronicity of the problem, rather than something to manage differently from open angle glaucoma. When managing an advanced uveitic glaucoma patient, the job of the glaucoma specialist is twofold.

IU professors: Invest in civic engagement, not a naturalization exam
Keith Barton, Alexander Cuenca and Kathryn Engebretson Published 6:00 a.m. ET Feb. 10, 2019 Instead of creating an additional barrier to graduation, we urge the legislature to support programs that focus on proven practices. Many point to low levels of civic knowledge as a key factor contributing to unproductive political discourse.
