For the longest time I’ve been wanting — no, make that longing — to do a passion project centered around food; my upbringing around it, how food has always held a prominent spot in my life. The memories, the experiences, the obsessions, the tensions, the toxicity, the weight-related issues. So many food-related stories swirling around in my head. Sadness, anger, joy; where do I start? How best to unscramble all the food-related clutter that has infiltrated my soul all these years?

Talk about the quintessential buzzkill. It’s Thanksgiving Day and after hours in the kitchen, you finally get to sit down with family and friends to that glorious meal. You haven’t even drizzled the giblet gravy on your plate when you hear a strange hacking, then look over to see your Basset Hound Barney acting strange. Hoping it will pass, you try and continue with the meal. You look over at Barney, who is quiet now, but breathing very heavily and looking a bit disoriented.

This is a super fun event to help homeless dogs & cats in our community. SPOT, Saving Pets One at a Time, is hosting Howl-O-Wine, doggie costume contest at Witch Creek Winery in Carlsbad on Sunday, Oct 30th 12-3pm. Entrance fee includes two wine tastings and a charcuterie plate. Lots of amazing raffle and silent auction prizes and music by John Alden. It is definitely a fun time had by all! If you cannot come, you can enter our online animal costume contest.
