Born and raised in South Carolina, I have been a reporter since 2016. I began my journalism career at The Newberry Observer where I held that role until 2020. In the fall of 2020, I began working at The Clinton Chronicle where I reported and handled graphic design. I joined the Index-Journal in Greenwood, SC in 2022 where I was employed until 2024. In this role, I primarily covered public safety and courts along with general news stories.

Nonprofit aims to cut down on cat colony problem in Greenwood

Be fruitful and multiply – a phrase often used in reference to biblical teachings, but can also be used to describe the dozens of cat colonies across Greenwood County. “When one colony explodes, cats start pushing out,” said Meg Jennings, owner of Back Step Strays, a nonprofit organization in Ware Shoals that works to end pet overpopulation and suffering of abandoned and stray cats and dogs. Part of what Back Step Strays does is what Jennings called a barn cat program.
