Abstract The phylum Heterolobosea comprises a morphologically diverse and ecologically versatile assemblage of free-living microbial eukaryotes, yet genus-level boundaries remain difficult to resolve due to limited diagnostic characters and extensive phenotypic plasticity. Here, we apply a reproducible 18S rDNA divergence framework to quantify genus-level divergence in Heterolobosea and to evaluate taxonomic placement of a newly discovered isolate from coastal sediments of Mombasa, Kenya.

We are super excited to welcome all of the new students to campus, and the returning students as well! Over the summer, Student Government has been planning out some projects for this year, such as continuing to develop the LGBTQ+ Resource Center, planning for Truman Week, getting our budget put together and getting ready for elections. Our first general body meeting of the year will be Sunday Aug. 28 at 5 p.m in the conference room on the third floor of the Student Union Building.

The Truman State University Theatre Department will be performing William Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” Nov. 10-13. Shows will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the James G. Severns Theatre in Ophelia Parish. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased online at boxoffice.truman.edu. “Much Ado About Nothing” is a comedy about love, drama and deceitfulness. “This show is probably the most accessible Shakespearean text,” Bonnie Jeune, a senior who plays Beatrice in the show, said.
