Connor Sturgeon opened fire in Old National Bank last week, killing five people and injuring eight. By Kentucky law, it seemed the weapon he used would be auctioned off where it could theoretically be used again. Many people, including Sturgeon's family and Mayor Craig Greenberg, have since criticized the law allowing guns used in crimes to be sold at auction.

When — and if — a grand jury considers their fate, it will have the option of indicting them on any of three degrees of homicide — from reckless homicide to murder.

No political parties in Northern Kentucky will have observers monitoring inside voting precincts on Election Day. So, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's call for volunteer "observers" to monitor fairness of elections has gone unheeded in the three counties across the Ohio River from Cincinnati. Kentucky law allows political parties in each county to appoint observers as "challengers" inside voting precincts.
