What was your first job as a journalist?

How is social media changing news?

It has fundamentally changed its epistemology. That's the subject of my research in progress.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

The real mission of 21st-century journalism is to help us learn to look and listen so we don't kill each other and the planet. I believe that media tools and processes can help individuals build community, solve problems and transmit constructive values.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

HTML, CSS, WordPress, social networking tools, audacity, Adobe suite, smartphones, notebooks, libraries - a combination of new and old tools.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

No.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

In a classroom.
