How is social media changing news?
Social media has become a news outlet. Yes, it's sometimes very unreliable with false information floating around, but when used correctly it is an extremely powerful medium and channel for news to spread. Get a catchy headline and it will spread like wildfire. Interview that star, and people will reshare your interview a thousand times. Social media is a necessity in today's digital age, but it needs to be utilised extremely carefully.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Being a journalist means finding the facts, looking for the bigger story, and always keeping the audience in mind while making editorial judgments.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Just keep going and pushing, step out of your comfort zone and be open to explore new things and meet new people. Don't be afraid of rejections or people saying no to you. It is only an opportunity to get better! And don’t be afraid to try something out of the box - in this industry, the unique stories thrive.
