By Kimberley Kao India's consumer-price growth accelerated in June as the Middle East conflict continued to drive up costs, supporting the case for interest rate hikes. The consumer-price index rose 4.38% last month, compared with a 3.93% increase in May, government data showed. That marked the highest reading this year and since the government revamped the consumer price index data series in January. The reading exceeded the 4.2% expected by economists in a Wall Street Journal poll.

By Kimberley Kao Oil prices jumped in early Asian trade on Monday as the U.S. and Iran continued to exchange military strikes, escalating a conflict that threatens to disrupt energy supplies through the Strait of Hormuz. Front-month WTI crude oil futures rose 4.3% to $74.51 per barrel, while front-month Brent crude oil futures gained 4.3% to $79.28 a barrel.

Markets are hoping for a "very strong" U.S. debut by SK Hynix, said Ipek Ozkardeskaya, senior analyst at Swissquote. This optimism drove South Korea's Kospi 5% higher during the trading session, after the company's American depositary receipts were priced at $149 each, marking the largest-ever U.S. listing by a foreign company, Ozkardeskaya says. The Kospi finished Friday trading 2.5% higher.
