1 Introduction There is a consensus that the global society needs a significant shift towards greater sustainability, a transformation that is already reshaping economies, job creation and destruction, and the terms of work (Thomas and Doerflinger 2020). Several action documents on sustainability, including the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation, the Paris Agreement and the EU's Green Deal, highlight the role of trade unions (TUs) as actors in fostering a just sustainability transition.

1. Introduction Sustainable consumption, which refers to the practice of satisfying needs through the acquisition, use, and disposal of goods and services in a manner that does not jeopardize the ecological and socio-economic conditions of current or future generations [] (Geiger et al., 2018), is a critical aspect of Goal No. 12 (i.e., Sustainable Consumption and Production) in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) [].

1 INTRODUCTION Sustainable consumption (SC), which addresses the impact of consumption patterns on the natural and social environment, has become an extremely important topic and is recognized as a trend by consumers as the appreciation for ecological and ethical consumption increases worldwide (Ishaq et al., 2021; Lanzini & Tencati, 2023; Risitano et al., 2023; Sesini et al., 2020).
