AUSTIN (KXAN) — Rain chances return Friday and continue daily as a welcome pattern change settles in. After topping out at 99° in Austin today, we’ll gradually cool to the 70s and 80s late tonight. Mainly clear and dry conditions are expected areawide. Most of tomorrow will feature a mix of sun and clouds with hot afternoon temperatures (mid-90s). By late day, a few showers are likely to move in, particularly along and east of I-35.

Let’s dive into the numbers. On average, our first triple-digit day in Austin is July 4. When we look back at recent years, though, our first 100-degree day has come much sooner. But records show we’ve had our first 100-degree day come much later as well.
