Today Afternoon highs will return to the upper 90s and low 100s today, likely to be the 40th day of triple digit heat in Austin for the year. Mainly sunny skies will stretch areawide with a low chance for a few isolated showers to bubble up with the daytime heat and sea breeze.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — We’ll be dry the rest of the night after scattered showers and storms brought some areas light rain, some areas no rain and some areas some brief heavy downpours on Friday. We’ll be dry the rest of the night with a mostly clear to partly cloudy sky. Going into the long weekend more sunshine to return and the temperatures to jump back into the upper 90’s, but spotty afternoon and early evening showers or storms continue.
