Runner injured in bison encounter at Custer State Park Original

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – A trail runner was taken to the hospital after a buffalo encounter in Custer State Park. South Dakota Game Fish and Parks says it happened around 3:30 p.m. MDT (4:30 p.m. CDT) Monday. Officials say the runner and buffalo scared each other and the buffalo hit her on the hip. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries. First Responders moved the animal from the area so crews could help the runner. GFP says more “buffalo safety” signs will be put up in the park.
