Targeting subchondral osteoporosis in osteoarthritis: biomechanical crosstalk and the therapeutic rationale for inflammatory microenvironment remodeling
Abstract Current osteoarthritis (OA) management remains largely symptom-directed, while the contribution of osteoporosis (OP)-related and OA-associated subchondral remodeling to disease heterogeneity remains uncertain. This review integrates macroscopic load redistribution and lower-limb malalignment with local osteoimmune processes, including macrophage-state heterogeneity, Th17/Treg imbalance, senescence-associated secretory signaling, and bone–vascular coupling.
Persistent perinatal protein malnutrition and post-weaning high-fat diet induce metabolic syndrome and hepatic UCP2 overexpression in IUGR offspring
Abstract Introduction: Adults born with intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) are at a significantly increased risk of developing metabolic syndrome. Postnatal nutritional patterns are critical modifiers of this risk. This study investigated the effects of different perinatal nutritional interventions on glucose/lipid metabolism and hepatic steatosis in IUGR offspring, and explored the role of hepatic uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2).

MTPN drives noncanonical ERK hyperactivation in colorectal cancer and provides a promising therapeutic approach for precision medicine in CRC
Abstract Efforts to block the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway for colorectal cancer (CRC) therapy are challenged by frequent oncogenic mutations of its upstream genes, robust extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) reactivation and difficulty in tumor-selective targeting without compromising the physiological processes of normal cells. Deeper insight into the precise mechanism of ERK regulation could help develop potential therapeutic strategies.

Herein, we report a Cr96Fe4Ge1.3B1 alloy that unifies low thermal expansion (LTE, αl = 1.79 × 10-6 K-1, 200 − 315 K) with exceptional toughness (240.2 J·cm-3).

Abstract Zero thermal expansion (ZTE) alloys with high mechanical response are crucial for their practical usage. Yet, unifying the ZTE behavior and mechanical response in one material is a grand obstacle, especially in multicomponent ZTE alloys. Herein, we report a near isotropic zero thermal expansion (αl = 1.10 × 10−6 K−1, 260–310 K) in the natural heterogeneous LaFe54Co3.5Si3.35 alloy, which exhibits a super-high toughness of 277.8 ± 14.7 J cm−3.

Abstract Rapid progress in modern technologies demands zero thermal expansion (ZTE) materials with multi-property profiles to withstand harsh service conditions. Thus far, the majority of documented ZTE materials have shortcomings in different aspects that limit their practical utilization. Here, we report on a superior isotropic ZTE alloy with collective properties regarding wide operating temperature windows, high strength-stiffness, and cyclic thermal stability.

Defect dipoles-induced domain reorientation of NdFeO3-PbTiO3 thin films
The defect dipoles exist in ferroelectric thin films and they play a unique role in the domain structure, most of the studies of the ferroelectric domains involving the extrinsic field-induced polarization reverse. Here we report a domain reorientation induced by the realignment of the defect dipoles at high temperature in a (100)-oriented NdFeO3-PbTiO3 (NF-PT) thin film. The temperature dependent XRD results exclude the reorientation of the lattice structures.
KFeCuTe2: A new compound to study the removal of interstitial Fe in layered telluride
Single cyrstal of a new layered telluride KFeCuTe2 has been successfully synthesized by self-flux method, which is formed by intercalating K in the parent telluride Fe1+xCuTe2. This new compound crystallizes in space group I4/mmm with the interstitial Fe in pristine Fe1+xCuTe2 completely removed after K intercalation. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) shows that after intercalation, the valence of Fe switched from a mixture of +2 and +3 to the single trivalent one.
