On paper, the District 5-5A matchup between Dutchtown and St. Amant looked like it should've been a defensive slugfest. And it was, for a half. Then the Griffins rushing attack picked up steam, and the Gators had no answer. Dutchtown took a 14-point lead early in the second half following a touchdown run by Carter Hanberry, and from there, the Griffins roared to an emphatic 31-7 win, handing St. Amant its first loss of the season.

Dunham finds creative ways to keep game close with Southern Lab, but Kittens prevail

Dunham’s special teams made some big plays in the first half that kept it in the game with Class 1A No. 3 Southern Lab. But the Tigers just couldn’t keep up with quarterback Marlon Brown and the Kittens offense for four quarters. Brown threw three touchdown passes, and he scored another on the ground. A blocked was the deciding factor in St. Amant's game against Opelousas

A sluggish St. Amant offense was looking for a spark Friday night, and they got it from their special teams. Trailing 8-0 late in the first half, St. Amant had ammassed just 16 yards of total offense against visiting Opelousas at the Pit in St. Amant. Then, St. Amant blocked an Opelousas punt and recovered the ball deep in Tigers territory. The Gators (4-0) turned it into a touchdown that tied the game 8-8 at halftime.
