Findings In this cross-sectional study of 600 patients with head and neck cancer, those who resided in areas of greater deprivation (ie, greater socioeconomic disadvantage) were found to have clinically meaningful lower head and neck cancer–specific well-being scores compared with patients who resided in areas of less deprivation.

Islamic Relief Canada (IRC) has rolled out its Share Your Warmth initiative across the country, with volunteers gathering at Ottawa’s Islamic Relief Centre on Jan. 18, to package winter relief kits for those in need. The kits will be distributed to the homeless as well as families in need, some of which are new Canadians that haven’t been exposed to the cold weather. They include warm clothing, living essentials, and hygiene necessities.

On March 23, the University Centre Atrium turned into a runway for fashion enthusiasts to raise awareness and money for a local mental health organization, YouthNet. Fashion show attendee and first-year Carleton student Megan Pannozzo was excited to see that the evening also featured youth mental health promotion. The fashion show fundraised for YouthNet, with the goal of art helping mental health. “It’s great to celebrate art and creativity, with an even bigger purpose,” says Pannozzo.
