America's Softening Toward Islam: Are We Embracing the Religion That Many Are Desperate to Escape?
ANALYSIS A staggering 200-page report was recently released detailing the British government's allowance of young girls to be groomed and abused by Muslim gangs. This tragic reality is one result of Islam's calculated integration into societies unprepared for its totalizing ideological demands. Here in America, this should concern us.
U.S. must not ignore radical Islam’s cultural threat
OPINION: A recent, staggering 197-page report detailed how the British government allowed girls to be groomed and abused by Muslim gangs. It should concern us here in America, where a widespread cultural softening toward Islam will inevitably lead us down the same path. As someone who grew up under radical Islam and is now free, I am frightened by subtle signs that many Americans seem to be missing. Still, I am unsurprised.
Has Iran’s Ceasefire Become a Green Light for Repression?
An indefinite ceasefire in Iran was supposed to bring relief. Instead, it has made things worse. This pivotal pause has allowed the regime to regroup, re-strategize, and reinforce strengthened authority. Naturally, fear has gripped Iran.
Updates From Inside Iran
We are receiving regular reports on the situation in the country and will continue to update this page as we receive them. The situation has escalated into something far worse than most expected. You can also read about the events that led us to this point, covering the first four weeks of protests and the conflict with the security forces.
The Iranian church continues to grow despite all opposition
By , Op-ed contributor As we approach the 2000th anniversary of the founding of the Church, there has been an increasing focus on fulfilling the Great Commission, resulting in a growing and expanding Church around the world. In turn, I am compelled to bring attention to one of the fastest growing churches in the world, one so dear to my heart and life’s calling: the Iranian Church. I was born into a very passionate-for-Jesus, Spirit-filled family in Iran.
Not All Bible Translations Are Created Equal
Our world today is driven by instant gratification. Yet, our God-granted purpose compels us to act in ways that oppose the fleeting satisfactions this world has to offer in order to create lasting fulfillment and eternal reward for the things we do.
Iran and Israel: God will establish His throne in Elam and we’re called to pray until it happens
- - OPINION: Our attention is currently localized on the turmoil in the Middle East, specifically in light of the ongoing two-sided attacks between Israel and Iran, resulting in Israel’s vow of response and Iran’s call for restraint. As the world waits to see how Israel will respond, we must ask ourselves what our own response should be. Subscribe to have The Washington Times’ Higher Ground delivered to your inbox every Sunday.

Women's History Month: Iranian women are truly making history
- - OPINION: “We Iranian girls are not afraid of anything anymore,” shared Maedeh, a brave Iranian woman who spoke with an ABC correspondent, among other women, in a interview without wearing a hijab. Many of us cannot imagine the reality of oppression so real and so intense that we would be utterly fearless to combat it. Today, Iran’s “morality police” continue to assault, imprison and murder women in cold blood for violating hijab laws.
Has the Global Church Forgotten about the Palestinian Church
As believers, we need to carefully consider our stance – especially about topics we realistically know so little about. Even though I was born in the Middle East and have a heart for the people there, I still lack sufficient knowledge to grasp the full scope of all that is happening. There are a number of political issues and decades of history between these people groups that are quite foreign to me. And I am certainly not equipped to make political or military decisions for Israel or Palestine.
Healthy Growth Multiplies: Iran and the Fruit of Faith
Healthy things grow. Likewise, unhealthy things do not. In fact, the things that receive inadequate care, rather than staying the same, weaken and deteriorate, eventually dying. I often think back to my early years in motherhood. When assessing my children’s health, the doctor would ask me, “Are they eating? Are they playing?” A healthy child has an appetite for food and nourishment. A healthy child is active.
How Living in Iran Transformed My Parental Perspective
Growing up in the mission field of Iran, a country where people are desperately searching for truth and freedom, I learned to live a life that was intentionally mission-driven. From a young age, I developed a vision for eternity, for my future on this earth and for the Kingdom of God. I made choices this way. My parents never had to worry about steering us away from the big ‘no’s (drugs, alcohol, sex...)—ultimately because these kinds of actions were so plainly the farthest things from our focus.
Silk: The Untamed Voice of Iran Resounds, Unabated
OPINION "When I go to prison, be my voice. When I am martyred or anything else happens to me, be my voice. Let’s be each other’s voice. We have to be united. We should not be afraid of them. . . If we are afraid of them, we are empowering them. We want to take that power from them!" These are the bold, resounding words from the mouth of young Bita Shafiei, an Iranian student, in her recently leaked self-taped video amidst her truancy from the authorities.
Why My LDS Friend Isn’t Trying to Convert Me to Mormonism
By Robby Lashua Published on July 27, 2023 I was shocked. It was the second time my Latter-day Saint friend told me he wasn’t interested in converting me. Last month, I led a group of high school students on an immersive apologetics mission trip to Salt Lake City, Utah. Part of the trip involved touring Temple Square and interacting with an older LDS couple, John and Sally, who work with non-Mormon groups. My discussions with John hit me differently this trip than in the past.
How God Redeemed an Iranian Mother’s Heartbreak for Hope
By Lana Silk Published on May 23, 2023 As the Mother’s Day-themed bouquets and greeting cards are removed from store shelves and we move on to the next holiday, my heart grieves as I reflect on how very different the motherhood experience is in Iran, where I lived until my preteens. Every year, while my children are presenting me with homemade cards and extra hugs and kisses, I thank God that I’m free to fully express my heart toward them and be actively involved in their daily lives.
The devastating reality of loveless marriages for women in Iran
By Lana Silk, Op-ed contributor | Thursday, February 09, 2023 Here in the West, we are currently anticipating Valentine's Day — a romantic holiday allowing couples the opportunity to celebrate their love, complete with tokens of endearing sentiments such as dates, chocolates, flowers and gifts. It is certainly a luxurious holiday in that we have the ‘luxury’ of openly expressing feelings of affection towards those we choose to love.
What I want to tell the courageous women of Iran
By Lana Silk, Op-ed contributor | Sunday, November 13, 2022 Recently, a significant revolution has transpired, making worldwide news; Iranian women are bravely fighting in solidarity for the sake of their own voices and freedoms. While this mass stance of valor is incredibly profound, it is simultaneously heartbreaking that these fearless women and those who love and support them are being brutally beaten and murdered in cold blood for their acts of protest.
