Carrington reunites with Executive Vice President & General Manager Curt Miller, who drafted and coached her during his time in Connecticut.
Maddy Siegrist Injury Update

There’s an evident transformation around Paige Bueckers in the Dallas Wings training camp, as the first week concludes. It’s reflected in the way she carries herself as a leader of the team, while changing the identity of a franchise that is desperately looking to become a winning organization. Book closes on WON’s 2025 charter schedule with dual-boat lobster combo trip with LA Watertfront Sportfishing
BY LANDON THOMAS Western Outdoor News SAN PEDRO – The WON lobster combo trip is one I look forward to all year, and it’s typically the trip we round out the year with that always ends with a bang. Loaded up on the Sport King & Gail Force this year, we were Catalina bound with a majority of lobster combo newbies. After a short ride to the island, we were fly-lining baits in no time. What caught me off guard were the yellows that showed their faces in our chum-line on the first stop.
WON charter on Fury a true ‘Southern California package trip’
BY LANDON THOMAS The annual trip on the Fury is something I am looking forward to and talking about all year. WON’s Fury trips are typically sold out within two weeks of posting them to WONews.com, and they’re are some of the most sought after trips we offer. This I covered this one which started off with a run to the Cortes Bank. We were briefed on the fishing to be prepared for light line and small hook bluefin fishing.
My 2025 WNBA End-of-Season Awards Ballot
I’ve submitted my ballot for the 2025 end-of-season awards. This was my third season as a media voter and it was one of the hardest ballots I’ve had to make, which made narrowing down selections a challenge. Here’s a breakdown of my picks for the 2025 end-of-season awards: Most Valuable Player: Napheesa Collier Collier finished her most complete campaign to date, as she led the Minnesota Lynx to the best record in the league.
WON Charter: Eldorado rings the mixed-bag bell on 2-day
BY LANDON THOMAS LONG BEACH— This year’s Eldorado trip had to be one of the most impressive displays of teamwork, decision making and results I have honestly seen in my (almost) three years at Western Outdoor News. TJ and Will up top seemed to make every right decision for their anglers. While we did not have the coveted “limits of bluefin” everyone wanted to see, we caught just about every available species our fishery has to offer on our 2-day trip.
Paige Bueckers Leads the Way, but Recent History Shows Rebuilds Remain a Multi-Year Project
The Dallas Wings entered All-Star weekend with a 6-17 record. The franchise’s 2025 No. 1 pick, Paige Bueckers, will be a starter in tonight’s exhibition displaying the best players in the world. Bueckers became the 10th player in WNBA history who has been selected to start a WNBA All-Star Game as a rookie. Bueckers joins Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, Shoni Schimmel, Elena Delle Donne, Brittney Griner, Maya Moore, Sue Bird, Tamika Catchings and Chamique Holdsclaw.
Dallas Wings Trade NaLyssa Smith to Las Vegas Aces: A Smart Move on the Court, but a Hit to Team Chemistry
The Dallas Wings have traded forward NaLyssa Smith to the Las Vegas Aces for a 2027 WNBA Draft First Round pick. In order to complete the trade, Dallas released Kaila Charles. The decision to trade Smith to the Aces for a first-round pick may have raised eyebrows among fans, given the great locker room dynamic throughout the struggling team record, but the move makes a lot of basketball sense with Smith’s on-court production in 2025.
Voting Ballot for 2025 WNBA All-Star Game
The selection of All-Star starters is conducted through a combination of voting by fans (50 percent of the vote), current WNBA players (25 percent) and a national panel of sportswriters and broadcasters (25 percent). Separately, once the starters are known, the WNBA’s head coaches will vote to determine the All-Star Reserves. This year is my third season as a WNBA media voter and I believe in transparency, these are the 10 votes I submitted to the league.
Chris Koclanes Faces Challenges in Establishing Leadership, Offensive Hierarchy, and Defensive Adjustments
First-year head coaches in the WNBA often experience a learning curve as they adapt to the quick training camps, limited roster spots in case of injuries, short 44-game season to experiment and recover early mistakes. Every single game is magnified and you often see win-now moves over long-term development from organizations across the league. It’s common to see growing pains, especially in a league with only 13 teams, margins for error are thin and mistakes are amplified.
Hope Reborn: Dallas Mavericks Land No. 1 Pick to Lead Dallas Into a New Era
The Dallas Mavericks moved up to the first overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. This marks the second time that Dallas has held the first-overall selection, when the franchise selected Mark Aguirre out of DePaul in 1981, and the first time in franchise history Dallas has moved up when in lottery position. Entering the lottery, Mavs had a 1.8% chance of landing the No. 1 pick in the 2025 Draft and 8.5% chance at moving into one of the top four positions.
