Indianapolis is well worth the jaunt to get there for FDIC International, colloquially known as Indy. This year’s massive fire show ran April 20 to 25, and by massive, I mean 38,027 attendees from 51 countries, over 850 exhibitors, and you sure get your steps in traversing the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium. Good thing, if you stay downtown, that the nightlife and dining are all very walkable.

November 25, 2025 By Laura Aiken On November 20, the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs held its annual awards sponsored by A.J. Stone. Mark Pankhurst was honoured with  the President’s Award. Fire Chief Ed Melanson, of Saugeen Shores, took home the VFIS Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment and Retention Award. Brian McBain, Fire Chief for Russell Township, won the Alf Stone Award. Deputy Fire Chief Shain Kimbell of Ajax fire department was the recipient of the Bill Williams Humanitarian Award.
