Laura Harring’s Biography
Critically acclaimed actress Laura Harring has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to community service and charitable giving. After graduating from boarding school in Switzerland, she became a social worker in India, working to correct the soil erosion problem in the foothills of the Himalayas and helping the villages by planting trees and vegetable gardens, as well as carrying heavy rocks. After acting for director David Lynch on the award-winning film “Mulholland Drive,” which was recently voted the Best Film of The 21st Century, Laura Harring has attended and helped countless charities and organizations. Among them The David Lynch Foundation, Stop Hunger Now, Children Uniting Nations, and Cure Kids Cancer.
Laura Harring’s acting career includes major roles opposite Denzel Washington, John Travolta, and Javier Bardem among others. She attended her first Academy Awards in 2002, wearing $1 million shoes from Stuart Weitzman and becoming the most photographed woman at the event. She most recently appeared as a recurring star in the hit television series “Chasing Life” and “NCIS LA”.
In 2007 Harring filmed season 5 of the critically acclaimed show “The Shield” and in 2009 season 3 of the hit sensation, “Gossip Girl”.
Laura Harring studied at the London Academy of Performing Arts, where she studied the works of Shakespeare. A lover of the classics, Laura Harring performs Commedia Dell’Arte in both the Italian and French styles. She dances salsa, tango, cha as well as swing, lindy hop and various types of the waltz.
