(WPRI) — Jaheim Sambola was jet skiing on the Seekonk River last weekend when he saw a car plunge into the water near the Taft Street fishing pier. “I can’t remember what made me look in that direction, but when I turned I saw the car in the water,” Sambola said. “I just paused because I was scared.” Sambola tried to get in contact with the two friends he was jet skiing with, but neither of them answered their phones.

(WPRI) — Rhode Island is currently in its first drought watch since 2002, and the conditions could create a dangerous mix as everyone heads out to celebrate America's 250th anniversary this weekend. Bristol Fire Chief Michael DeMello urged those who plan to light off fireworks to take the proper precautions, especially when disposing of them afterward. "It's amazing how fast the brush will burn and how quick that fire will move," DeMello said.
