Abstract Photodetectors that can achieve both high sensitivity and fast speed remain a challenge due to inherent trade-offs, particularly limiting in photonic integrated circuits. While substantial progress has been made in broadening spectral response, few strategies have directly addressed the simultaneous enhancement of sensitivity and speed.

Abstract Optical phase modulators are critical components in integrated photonics, but conventional designs suffer from a trade-off between modulation efficiency and optical loss. Two-dimensional materials like graphene offer strong electro-optic effects, yet their high optical absorption at telecom wavelengths leads to significant insertion losses.
