LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Flood victims should be cautious of disaster relief scams amid recent flooding events. Brielle Blanchard, CEO of the Better Business Bureau of Acadiana, said scammers often try to take advantage of those already struggling. “Homeowners become vulnerable,” Blanchard said. She warns that scammers will pose as government disaster relief assistance agencies, like FEMA and the SBA. They call you to offer assistance through grants or loans.

Online car sales scam uses Scott business address

SCOTT, La. (KLFY)– News 10 has uncovered an online, alleged business claiming to deliver vehicles from a warehouse that belongs to a local business. The scammer claims to sell liquidated vehicles and deliver them nationwide. Victims of “Dibes Auto Sale” tell us when the ask to see the vehicle in person, they’re told the warehouse can be found at 202 Apollo Road in Scott. When we searched the address, it brought us to a home flooring warehouse. Shawn Smith is a manager at the warehouse.
