What started as a series of conversations around a family table during the COVID-19 pandemic has grown into an award-winning cidery in Ottawa’s west end. At 1818 Farm and Cidery in Carp, cider-maker Wes Hunter and his family have turned land that had been sitting largely unused into a growing farm, cidery, restaurant and destination. And now, one of their ciders has been named the best in Canada.

OC Transpo’s Community Visibility Team making transit safety a visible priority

If you’ve noticed more uniformed officers walking through OC Transpo stations, trains and buses, you’re not imagining it. The transit agency’s Community Visibility Team (CVT) is out across the system, working to make special constables a more visible presence for passengers. The initiative is part of OC Transpo’s Customer First Action Plan. Since launching in May, the team has conducted more than 700 foot patrols.

West-end councillor calls for better planning and more bus service after Moodie Station damage

A west-end Ottawa councillor is calling on the city to do more than simply repair flood damage near Moodie Station, saying residents need assurances the same problem won’t happen again and need better transit service in the meantime. In a memo sent to the mayor and councillors, OC Transpo says the West Extension is being inspected to determine impacts following the July 1 extreme weather event.
