Electrochemical hydrogenation of biomass substrates with cation shuttling in a solid electrolyte reactor
Abstract Electrochemical hydrogenation of biomass-derived substrates offers a sustainable route to valuable chemicals, yet conventional systems often struggle to simultaneously achieve high efficiency and high product purity. Here we report an electrochemical process based on a porous solid-electrolyte reactor that integrates efficient hydrogenation with intrinsic purification for biomass-derived substrates, thereby eliminating the need for supporting electrolytes.
Molecular mechanism of cholesterol-dependent membrane fusion in SARS-CoV-2 entry - Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy
Abstract Enveloped virus invasion relies on spike glycoprotein-mediated membrane fusion. Cholesterol that serves crucial roles in modulating protein conformations and membrane properties, plays an essential role in the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) cell entry. However, the precise regulatory mechanism of cholesterol in SARS-CoV-2 fusion remains unknown.
Zongming Song - OCT News
August 30, 2025 | Ophthalmology | Shantou University, Singapore National Eye Centre, Soochow University Millions of individuals worldwide suffer from retinal anomalies, which can lead to irreversible vision loss. However, the number of ophthalmologists is highly mismatched with the population base in China, especially in many rural and underdeveloped towns.
Comparison of Two Types of Silicone Hydrogel Bandage Contact Lenses Used as Bandage Contact Lenses After Transepithelial Photorefractive Keratectomy - Randomized, Double-Blind, Contralateral Eye Study
You are already at the latest version Purpose: To compare the clinical outcomes of Lotrafilcon A and Balafilcon A silicone hydrogel contact lenses used as therapeutic bandage contact lenses (BCL) following transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy (TPRK).
mESC: An Enhanced Escape Algorithm Fusing Multiple Strategies for Engineering Optimization
1. Introduction 1.1. Research Background The optimization problem is a type of problem that optimizes the objective function that meets the constraints [1]. This type of problem involves many fields, such as physical chemistry [2], biomedical [3], economics and finance [4], logistics and operations management [5], science and technology, and machine learning [6]. Optimization problems are commonly present in the real world, such as path planning, image processing, feature selection, etc.
An anti-electrowetting carbon film electrode with self-sustained aeration for industrial H2O2 electrosynthesis
An anti-electrowetting carbon film electrode with self-sustained aeration for industrial H2O2 electrosynthesis† Electrochemical two-electron oxygen reduction represents a highly desirable and sustainable future strategy for the mass production of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) for applications from large-scale chemical production to portable sanitation.

An efficient, green, and residual oxidant-free wastewater treatment technology enabled by coupling dual-cathode heterogeneous electro-Fenton and UV radiation in tandem
An efficient, green, and residual oxidant-free wastewater treatment technology enabled by coupling dual-cathode heterogeneous electro-Fenton and UV radiation in tandem Lele Cui, Mingming Sun and Zhenghua Zhang Abstract Efficient implementation of catalyst-integrated cathode-based heterogeneous electro-Fenton (HEF) usually suffers from the conflict between the optimal potentials of the two targeted reduction reactions (O2 to H2O2 and metal(n+1)+ to metaln+).
Relationship of retinal capillary plexus and ganglion cell complex with mild cognitive impairment and dementia - Eye
Abstract Objective To investigate relationship of the retinal capillary plexus (RCP) and ganglion cell complex (GCC) with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia in a community-based study1. Methods This cross-sectional study incorporated the participants of the Jidong Eye Cohort Study. Optical coherence tomography angiography was performed to obtain RCP vessel density and GCC thickness with detailed segments.
