The Emerson women’s basketball team thought they were ready to take a leap forward in 2022-23. After a difficult 2021-22 season, in which the squad dressed eight college basketball rookies every night for the whole year and finished with an 8-16 record, the team had reason to believe that 2022-23 would be more positive. Only two seniors departed after the season’s end, and with more experience under their belts, the players felt they could make wholesale improvements. They were wrong.

“Community” is the greatest TV show of all time. Maybe you think I’m wrong—that I’m stupid or simply misinformed. The 10” x 10” sheet of paper these words occupy certainly isn’t enough to credential me as an expert. But credentials be damned, Neilsen ratings be damned, syndication be damned, I wholeheartedly believe “Community” should be considered one of the best TV shows to ever air.

The 2022-23 Emerson Lions have a lot to be proud of: across all 14 athletic programs, the Lions captured a bevy of accolades, including five major individual conference awards, nine First Team All-Conference selections, eight Second Team All-Conference selections, two Coaching Staff of the Year awards, an All-American selection, and the crowning accomplishment, a NEWMAC championship. Women’s soccer led the way in team success, capturing the NEWMAC championship over Clark University in November.
