Eight Times When You Should Not Play Poker
In poker, amateurs, hobbiests, and semi-professionals all have an advantage over their full-time professional brothers and sisters. We don't have to play. We can be selective, and play only when we want, not depending on the game for our livelihood as the pros do. Unfortunately, many of us fail to take that advantage, and instead we play poker even when it would make more sense for us to refrain from playing. This column is a guide to identify those times when it makes more sense not to play poker.
Hold'em with Holloway, Vol. 84: Harman Hits Back-to-Back Miracle Turns
Friday Night Poker has become my favorite poker cash game show. I'm not getting paid to say that. It's unsolicited and something I felt compelled to share. The lower stakes — it's played $5/$10 no-limit hold'em — make the show a bit more lighthearted and give lesser-known players an opportunity to make a name for themselves. The show was designed to allow fans the opportunity to interact and engage with poker personalities in real time while they're playing a no-limit hold'em cash game.

Teachable Moments From Twitch: Chance Kornuth on Preserving Tournament Equity
In another edition of this new "Teachable Moments From Twitch" series, I wanted to share a quick hand from poker pro Chance Kornuth he recently played on his stream at www.twitch.tv/chancekornuth. This hand comes from the partypoker POWERFEST series, taking place a week ago during the $2 million guaranteed Championship Event (#108-SHR) with a $10,300 buy-in. What the hand lacks in action, it makes up for in discussion of a rarely invoked concept that Kornuth does a great job of explaining.
Teachable Moments From Twitch: Capping Ranges With Small Bet Sizing
As a student of the game, I often watch poker coverage for educational purposes instead of for entertainment value. I've been able to pick up some good information from the commentators explaining a pro's thought process during a hand in a live game, but this has always been a flawed method since the source is secondhand. Unfortunately, this was the best we could do until recently.

Tough Sledding for Big Names on Day 1a at WinStar River Poker Series
It was not a good day to be a well-known poker player with big-time results at WinStar. After more than 16 levels of play on Day 1a of WinStar River Poker Series $2,500 Main Event, 46 players out of 378 entries bagged up chips. The list of those who made it through would not be mistaken for a group of poker superstars, as most of the big-name grinders who made the trip to America's biggest casino found themselves on the rail at least once and were absent by night's end.

Hold’em with Holloway, Vol. 78: Wyoming Poker Action & Wild South Dakota Hand
In this week's column, I want to talk about two tournaments you probably haven't heard anything about. One tournament that recently played out was the $400 buy-in 2018 Wyoming State Poker Championship at Wind River Casino.
