Ascendente House is a private residence in Lagoa Santa, in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, that was designed to respect the site’s previous occupant: nature itself. In the words of Carlos Maia, one of the lead designers: “the house moulds itself to nature, not the other way around.” Designed by TETRO Arquitetura and completed in 2025, the house occupies a plot of about 1,055 square metres inside a condominium.

The image of the vibrant life in the streets of late-19th-century Paris, with its dances, colours, art and new ideas, is still something widely searched for today, and one of the best ways to be transported back to this period is with hospitality.

Casa da Moeda Apartment is a 137-square-metre refurbished apartment in the heart of Lisbon, completed by Aurora Arquitectos between 2022 and 2025. The flat is located inside a “rabo de bacalhau” building, an apartment type linked to Lisbon’s growth in the second half of the 20th century. These buildings have deep plans, thin reinforced concrete slabs and solid masonry partition walls, which means that their layouts are closed and there’s a big separation between all rooms in the house.
