Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

Working at The Daily Standard, a family-owned paper in Ohio, as a reporter, photographer and editorial supervisor.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Photoshop, Canva, DSLR photography and Microsoft products.

Why did you become a journalist?

I stumbled into journalism and fell in love with working in my communities to uplift their voices and keep them informed.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I didn't work at my high school paper, but I did do some work as a reporter and photographer at my college paper, The Daily News at BSU.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I'm most proud of my investigative work, especially my story on book banning where I interviewed author Ta-Nehisi Coates.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Any time in the early afternoon through the evening.

What's your favorite drink?

I enjoy coffee, although it has to be very sweet! I also like peach tea and a good mimosa.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Curled up on the couch with my cat, Gnocchi, either watching TV, playing video games or practicing embroidery.
