From that arranged marriage, Ms Salih says, the situation spiralled into an abusive relationship that saw her subjugated into working in the underground tobacco industry. Developers with state-tied projects donate to Queensland politicians after ban lifted

Developers with projects in special Queensland government development zones have started throwing money at the ruling state Liberal National Party after the loosening of political donation laws. Since mid-March this year, developers have been allowed to donate to state politics after the LNP overturned an eight-year ban. More than $170,000 has since been pumped into politics by developers or aligned companies, according to Electoral Commission of Queensland records and donor declarations.
