Restaurant review: Kahve Café blends authentic Turkish traditions with a welcoming atmosphere.
On most occasions when I head out for coffee or a bite to eat, I’m looking for a breath of fresh air or a change of pace from the day-to-day of working out of my home office. Every so often, though, I’ll find a place that manages to feel both like an escape and a home-away-from-home. Perhaps the most exemplary of these places would have to be Kahve Café, an oasis of tranquility nestled away in a charming Victorian house just outside the heart of downtown Salt Lake City.

A phrase that’s come into regular use in my household is emotional support hot pot. This tends to be uttered with an air of gentle desperation, typically following the aftermath of a less-than-fortunate day, and calls for a remedial evening over a simmering cauldron of rich broth.
Lunching Guide 2025
Lunch is one of those meals that often gets lost in the shuffle of a busy day—which is too bad. In my book, lunch is like that supportive loved one waiting on the sidelines with a bit of refreshment while you're in the middle of running a marathon. It's a reprieve from the grind, an excuse to be social with people you wouldn't normally hang out with and, perhaps most of all, it's a moment of self-care amid all of life's daily demands.
