Coupling filter mating with nanopore selective sequencing expands capturable conjugative plasmid recovery in biological wastewater treatment systems
Abstract Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are hotspots for the exchange of plasmids, which can spread antibiotic resistance genes. However, recovering conjugative plasmids from complex communities remains challenging because both plasmid extraction and cultivation-based approaches introduce bias.

Enhanced inverse Compton scattering via spontaneous focusing induced by a coated plasma mirror
Abstract Efficient generation of high-energy γ-rays from laser–electron interactions is crucial for advancing nuclear photonics and strong-field quantum electrodynamics. However, the energy-conversion efficiency of plasma-mirror-based all-optical inverse Compton scattering has been fundamentally constrained by the limited overlap between the reflected laser pulse and the wakefield-accelerated electron beam.
Computer Science > Robotics
Robotic manipulation policies rely on pre-trained vision models that give either a global scene embedding or a dense patch grid. Both mix task-relevant and task-irrelevant features. Object-centric slot representations are a structured alternative: they group features into a few per-object slots. We test what this structure buys on ManiSkill3 PickCube-v1, with a frozen encoder and a held-out-seed evaluation.
Plasma-state metasurfaces for ultra-intensive field manipulation
|
Abstract High-power lasers offer ultrahigh intensities for plasma interactions, but they lack advanced techniques to control the properties of the fields, because no optical elements could withstand their high intensities. The vibrant field of metasurfaces has transformed modern optics by enabling unprecedented control over light at subwavelength through deliberate design. However, metasurfaces have traditionally been limited to solid-state materials and low light intensities.

Reassessment-stage metabolic indices and subsequent cardiorenal outcomes in adults with diabetes: CHARLS and an independent hospital validation cohort
Abstract Background: Simple metabolic indices may capture residual cardiorenal risk beyond conventional glycemic markers, but their reassessment-stage value and external reproducibility remain unclear. We evaluated the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, metabolic score for insulin resistance (METS-IR), triglyceride total cholesterol body weight index (TCBI), and cholesterol-high-density-lipoprotein-glucose (CHG) index in relation to subsequent cardiorenal outcomes.
The impact of extreme heat on rural household development capability: evidence from the China Health and Nutrition Survey
Climate change severely threatens rural household welfare, but the resulting structural damage to household development capability is often poorly captured by traditional income indicators. Departing from these conventional approaches, this study investigates the impact of extreme heat on rural household development capability using longitudinal data from the China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS) spanning 1993–2015.
Effects of 12-week 24-form Tai Chi on cognitive function, cerebral perfusion, and vascular function in postmenopausal women with mild cognitive impairment: an exploratory randomized controlled trial
Abstract Background: Postmenopausal women are at increased risk of mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Vascular and cerebrovascular dysfunction may contribute to this increased vulnerability. Tai Chi has been shown to benefit cognitive function, but its effects on cerebrovascular health in this high-risk population remain poorly defined.
Systems Biology Identifies TARS2 as a Cardiomyocyte Regulator of Mitochondrial Oxidative Stress in Dilated Cardiomyopathy
Heart failure (HF) is one of the most prevalent cardiovascular diseases, severely impairing quality of life and contributing to high mortality worldwide.1, HF affects more than 64 million people globally, imposing a substantial socioeconomic burden.2 As the leading nonischemic cause of HF, dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is characterized by progressive left ventricular (LV) dilation and systolic dysfunction.
Comparative predictive value of the cholesterol-high-density lipoprotein-glucose index versus the triglyceride-glucose index for gestational dysglycemia: a two-cohort study
Abstract Background: Early risk stratification for gestational dysglycemia is important for improving maternal and neonatal outcomes. Derived from fasting triglycerides and glucose, the triglyceride–glucose (TyG) index is widely used to approximate insulin resistance, whereas the cholesterol-high-density lipoprotein-glucose (CHG) index incorporates broader lipid metabolism.
Integrated causal inference, kidney transcriptomics, and experimental validation identify ChREBP ( MLXIPL ) as a driver of maladaptive metabolic remodeling in diabetic kidney disease
Abstract Background: Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) remains a leading cause of end-stage renal disease despite advances in glucose-, blood pressure-, and albuminuria-lowering therapies.

Macromolecular interactions dictate Polycomb-mediated epigenetic repression
Abstract The dynamic regulation of epigenetic states relies on complex macromolecular interactions. PRC2, the methyltransferase complex responsible for depositing H3K27me3, interacts with distinct accessory proteins to form the mutually exclusive subcomplexes PHF1-PRC2.1, MTF2-PRC2.1, PHF19-PRC2.1, and PRC2.2. The functions of these subcomplexes are unclear and thought to be highly redundant.

Adaptive focus stacking for large depth-of-field microscopic structured-light 3D imaging
This paper presents an adaptive focus stacking method for large depth-of-field (DOF) 3D microscopic structured-light imaging systems. Conventional focus stacking methods typically capture images under a series of pre-defined focus settings without considering the attributes of the measured object. Therefore, it is inefficient since some of the focus settings might be redundant.
