To the Editor: To Linda Sexton of Water Oak: I don’t think Villagers object to outsiders coming into our community and spending money in the restaurants and shops, or enjoying the entertainment at the squares. What they do object to is having outsiders use our pools, recreation centers, tennis courts, pickleball courts, etc. for which we pay an amenity fee every month. Why should outsiders get away with using these facilities for free. That’s the objection. Vinnie Wallione Village of Gilchrist

I know I have written this before, some years ago. For those of you in The Villages who complain about “outsiders” getting in your “gated” communities, shopping and enjoying the entertainment at “your” town squares, you need to remember you can’t change that! Your streets, roads, shops, and entertainment are ALL open to the public. You have no true “Gated Villages or Communities” that can keep others out. You are NOT ON PRIVATE ROADS, THEY ARE PUBLIC.
