My then-boyfriend and I made the two-day drive straight up through the middle of the country in the beginning of June, eager to get to the apartment we’d rented after a half-hearted search through neighborhoods we recognized only because of their proximity to something famous. We settled on one where we could see Wrigley Field through our dining room window. Kind of.

First and foremost, I want to say that I, personally, have enough stuff. Most of us have enough stuff. I love to give experiential gifts whenever possible that are flexible enough for the recipient to choose when they avail themselves of the opportunity, but don’t require a lot of energy and planning on their part. And if it’s for an event on a specific date, I always check to see if they’re available before making the purchase. Easy peasy. The gift of travel is timeless.
