Low levels of infrastructure development and poor quality services within a country can increase production costs for domestic firms and orientate their technological choices towards sub-optimal solutions. This reduces their ability to compete with foreign companies in general. Furthermore, the economic literature suggests that better power infrastructure significantly stimulates economic growth and improves a range of development outcomes.
