What does it mean to be a journalist?
Journalists are information factories, in my opinion. Our value is that we use judgement in sorting and distributing the information we find.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Computer, 2 iphones, ipad, SONY video camera and ZOOM digital audio recorder; software: SCRIBD, voice recognition, iPhoto, Adobe Audition
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Yes hahahah! I started out as a writer in my freshman year and served as editor in chief when I was a senior.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Stay curious, always look it up yourself -- whatever it is -- and TALK TO STRANGERS FEARLESSLY.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
NYT
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That "good" and "bad" are absolute.
