A Zimbabwe-born, London-living journalist - previously features director of Elle UK, acting deputy editor of Sunday Times Style, assistant editor on The Times Weekend and part-time current deputy editor of the Telegraph's Ultratravel magazine.
She has driven around America in a clapped-out Chev, canoed the Zambezi, joined adventurers finding the source of The Nile, done the Cresta Run twice - and spent three months hiking southern Africa collecting the ancient myths and legends of African trib…

What was your first job as a journalist?

Trainee on The Star in Johannesburg; I was sent out on to the streets during the apartheid era and learnt pretty quickly.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes. I learnt on one. My first job was on one. When I started at The Times, several columnists delivered their copy using one.

How is social media changing news?

It gives previously unverified people a platform - giving rise to fake news - but also opens it up to anyone, thereby giving us more options.
