Since the FIFA World Cup began in Atlanta, MARTA trains have been flooded with at least 200,000 riders heading downtown on match days. That’s according to the transit authority’s police chief, Scott Kreher, who says there have been no major crime incidents reported since the World Cup kicked off in June. Kreher tells WABE’s “Morning Edition” that when the new CQ400 fleet of railcars rolls out, MARTA officers will ride on individual trains.

Atlanta is full of content creators eager to fly their drones near the FIFA World Cup festivities near Mercedes-Benz Stadium. But local FBI agents are urging fans to stop, or face hefty fines of up to $100,000 and prison time. The FBI Atlanta tells WABE that as of two weeks ago, special agents had confiscated three drones since the World Cup started. Now, that number has surpassed 80.

David Scott, a longtime Georgia politician and businessman, has died. He was 80 years old. Known for his over 23-year tenure in the United States Congress, Scott garnered a respectable reputation among peers for his staunch advocacy for farmers, healthcare, education and veterans. The son of Mamie Polite Scott and Albert James Scott, the politician was born on June 27, 1945, in the small South Carolina town of Aynor.
