Letter: Disease Stage and Absolute Risk in Evaluating the Branched-Chain Amino Acid to Tyrosine Ratio in Cirrhosis

Dear Editor, We read with interest the study by Utakata et al. [1]. The authors evaluated the prognostic value of the branched-chain amino acid to tyrosine ratio and its components in patients with liver cirrhosis. They showed that this marker remained independently associated with mortality after adjustment for established risk factors. These findings support the role of amino acid imbalance in risk stratification and suggest its potential clinical application.

Among the Anoctamin family, Anoctamin 1 (ANO1) and Anoctamin 2 (ANO2) are classical CaCCs proteins. ANO1 has been identified as a potential therapeutic target due to its involvement in diseases such as cancer and cystic fibrosis.
