Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

I can't remember the assignment or event that I covered, but I remember leaving the office at midnight the first day I joined the news desk.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes, my mum's!

How is social media changing news?

Making news more accessible and automatic, and audience more participatory in current issues.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

On email, or in person/over the phone if there is sensitive information or a background chat is required first.

Why did you become a journalist?

I love to witness the world and people become, grow, evolve, change.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Be sure (or at least be willing to find out) that you want to go the mile, even if it means going on foot some stretches of it.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Between late morning and late afternoon, 10am-4pm

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

On my phone, (un)fortunately.
