KEARNEY, N.E. (Dakota News Now) - There’s a reason you play a full 60 minutes of hockey in regulation, and it’s for moments like what happened for the Sioux Falls Stampede tonight, overcoming a 3-1 deficit in the third period to beat the Tri-City Storm, 6-3. Ivans Kufterins saw his first start in the USHL, picking up his first win, while forward Vojtech Švancar scored his first goal in the league on the power play.

Out of the gate, it looked like the NTDP U18s were taking control of the game in the first period.

CHICAGO, I.L. (Dakota News Now) - We all know the USHL season is long, and the first game of the season may not be a reliable indicator of the next 61, but it certainly feels like the Sioux Falls Stampede are picking up where they left off last season, with a win against the Eastern Conference runners up in the Madison Capitols. With that said, and despite a 3-2 final score, the Herd will want to focus on what went right in the first period and how to correct what didn’t work in the second.
