Independent video games have brought us bizarre protagonists, such as a turnip that commits tax evasion in Turnip Boy by Snoozy Kazoo (2021) and a goose who terrorizes a quaint English hamlet in Untitled Goose Game by House House (2019), so somehow, a game focused on a single mother is less absurd but more unusual. This groundedness allows Best Month Ever!, a game by Warsaw Film School (2022), to show us how our capitalist system takes mothers’ lives for granted.

At the culmination of a months-long manhunt by the Bolivian Army and the CIA, Che Guevara’s last words were simple. “Shoot, coward,” he cried into the face of his executioner. “You are only going to kill a man.” Seeing himself as a small piece of a larger socialist project, the guerrilla warrior apparently had no lingering interest in his own life (or at least, an unconquerable flair for the dramatic).

One of the most obvious ways to hamstring the pandemic would be to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine globally, to every country in the world. Such a thing is certainly in the best interest of humanity at large for economic, humanitarian and self-preservation reasons. Yet the COVID-19 vaccines remain scarce in the poorest countries in the world; moreover, due to their proprietary nature, they cannot even be produced in many countries which often have the material capacity to do so.
