What was your first job as a journalist?

I was the community news writer for a weekly newspaper in Boston. I wrote obits and wedding announcements until they trusted me with news.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes! In high school I used a typewriter for fun.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I worked for my high school newspaper and college newspaper. It was the thrill of chasing a deadline that hooked me.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Don't be afraid to call back and ask a follow up question.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Hanging out on the couch, watching mediocre reality TV.
